It just seemed like the movie was jumping around a lot and in doing so it lacked believability in certain regards because it was so focused on moving the plot along. I'm sorry, where was the cleanup crew to remove the blood spatter and the body from the kitchen? They just act like it's no big deal and the police are totally gone within what seems like an hour or so and they just leave the family there in the house where their dad just brutally murdered a man in cold blood? I dunno, it just felt very weird and very rushed.Īnd then Harbour immediately rushes over to meet up with the guys who broke into his house and doesn't think maybe the incredibly suspicious detective might be watching him? Then the next scene we see them, Hamm is leaving the scene as if they just got done having a normal question and answer session. The police show up to the crime scene and David Harbour lies about being the shooter. There are also some really dumb lapses in logic. Seems like a minor quibble and maybe it is, but it felt like it was written as a modern thriller that was retrofit to the 50s to give it some noir atmosphere. Kids didn't talk to their parents / adult figures like this in the 50s and vice versa, for example. Interesting film but the characters and dialogue don't seem authentic to the setting.

Did he enter with one? I need to go back and watch it analytically to catch all the clues that will paint the full picture. However, I think I remember Naismith exiting the hotel without a bag.

There's so much to see and to hear in this, I don't think you can catch it all with one viewing. However, I think he somehow got the $120k from Naismith which is why he asks Goynes at the end how he wants to distribute the money (as I assume he still has $70k left after paying off Finney) only for Goynes to repeat that he just wants his $5k. Goynes insisted that Watkins show up in person as only Watkins could have such a personal vendetta as to be believable in leaving the money content with the just log book and Goynes. Goynes was expecting Russo to betray him so leaving him with the $375k was Goynes' way of removing Russo from the equation as well as the heat associated with all that money. Nobody seems to mention this and maybe I'm completely wrong as I have only watched it once but I think Watkins somehow got the Naismith money. Yet in another scene Watkins' henchman tells him 'wouldn't it be easier to hand over Goynes to Finney' if they were only going to get 45k, meaning that Finney also has a bounty on Goynes/Russo? Smaller point, but who was the one who put the bounties on Goynes and Russo? Goynes' friend mentions 'Capelli and Watkins' but it seems like they did it independently of each other? Since Watkins wanted Goynes alive and Capelli wanted him dead.I guess one possible explanation is that he just really wants to suck up to Lowen lol Why did Detective Finney accept the 50k 'bribe' from Watkins if he was intending to pass it to Mike Lowen after? If he intended to pass on the bribe, wouldn't it have been better to arrest Goynes on the spot? (basically the first scenario that Watkins painted out). Why did Watkins bring Goynes out at gunpoint after taking the book from him? If Watkins didn't want anything to do with the 375k, why not just let Goynes split it with Russo?.Great movie! Was a bit confused but cleared up most loose ends after reading the wiki synopsis. They just tried to do too much with this one, I'm afraid. Its like a wannabe Chinatown but just too scattered, too much Oceans 11 shit. There is a lot to like about this movie, but also a lot to be annoyed with as well. In some instances the music was distracting. The plot was interesting but needed work, and needed better editing. Too many known faces took this movie down a notch. I would have rathered someone else for Frank than Ray Liotta as well. David Harbour should NOT be in this movie. I think this movie suffers mostly by having too many known faces in it.

I don't mind Matt Damon not getting any comeuppance, I get it, even if its annoying, I get it. Hated that she just let the cop take it without a fight. Hated that Russo got killed over it by the cheating wife. Hated that Goynes's foil ending up not giving a shit about nearly 400K. Liked Goynes and Russo turning on each other at different points.

Liked how Goynes kept pushing to go up the ladder.

Brendan Fraser Transforms Into 600-lb.I liked parts of this.
